Folks who are scared of COVID-19 are mostly elderly obese smokers.

Yes, it is worse than the flu but whimpering like children and losing composure will simply put more people at risk.

Well I'm in the hospital with a white blood count of 1.4 and I'm in isolation.

I’m very sorry to hear that. I’m not trying to be insensitive, I just feel that panic is a greater risk to society at this point.

I think this virus will be a sobering experience for our country.

I am certain that fear-mongering will make things worse.

People need to accept that certain things are out of our control and realize that sober-minded planning in the only way to navigate a crisis.

You don’t jump overboard when your ship hits a squall line.

You might lose some sails or a crew member, but a tattered ship is always better than a long swim.

The best way to deal with something like this is with realistic pragmatism. I am not buying into the media panic, but I am not treating it as a complete nothingburger either. The social ramifications from this, via collective panicking, "containment zones", and economic disruptions ARE serious even if most people do not get seriously ill...
