I'll piggyback on this and mention for those of you hard chargers with a permanent disability rating from the va...you can also get a lifetime access pass for free that will also get you and your family/vehicle into federal lands for free. It doesn't expire and is also good for discounts for things like tours and camping fees. It doesn't even have to be a high rating, if you have 10% (tinnitus should get you there) it qualifies. Just has to be permanent. There may be a small fee if you mail in a request or do it online but I got mine years ago by just going into a visitor center with my VA letter. Super simple.
