Interesting review on some gear that wasn't ever intended for holding your bolt-rifle ammo. I will have to give this a try. HSGI produces good products for sure.
I think paying $30 for a pouch is way better than paying $200 for a new magwell + the cost for mags.

Tab gear makes a 100 round ammo carrier, but it's like $60.

I have always hated ammo boxes because they are loud and inconvenient when you're on the move.

You could give these a look - Fire Hose Small Parts Bag - Duluth Trading
1/2 the price of the TAB and without loops or internal divider, but tough little bags none the less.

I've never used them for ammo, but they are tough as nails and have stood up well for other uses.

Not knocking the tab gear but there are other alternatives out there much cheaper.

HD used to have a three pouch set with a small 6", 8" and 10" I just have not found it in a while.

They are heavy duty cordura, but I am sure not as tough as the Tab. Beats carrying in a ziplock.

Yes and no. Having ammo readily and easily accessible can make a world of difference for internal mags. Grab and go. Yes, mags are faster, but not everyone has $$$ for them.
