It's hard for the average American to understand how unbelievably tough and skilled these guys are. Rugby is anything but "kill the guy with the ball". These dudes can do shit with that ball that will have your head spinning. I've been on the field with guys maybe 20% as talented, and they were just unbelievable. It's hands down the absolute toughest team sport around, and nobody does it like the kiwis

Oh don't get me wrong, you guys are spectacular too. As are quite a few countries, including England, SA and France. I can't tell the difference watching guys individually outside of the score.
Pissant little Ireland is ranked #2. The USA aint even ranked, we do great through juniors and college level but like soccer the players either switch to football or leave and play in other countries. Sad really, Rugby,unlike soccer, is an actual sport.
USA can't and never will be able to compete because there are just not nearly enough places that foster rugby at a young age. Everything is football, baseball and basketball etc. I didn't play until college, and then only continued for a couple years after. The europe guys we played with had been playing since they were 8. It makes all the difference because they learn how to kick at an early age, and a lot of these guys can kick with both feet.
