Who makes these? It is just a padded system that hooks to the bottom of the rifle somehow.

Don't know who makes them but I know Rob O and NOMAD run them on their sticks and I'm pretty sure triad sells them.

Anybody actually use one in have any thoughts? or are they just to keep ur pretty stock from scratching?
I imagine they would add a little more support when resting on a hard surface during positional shooting.
Also, how do they attach? Fear and common sense?

I have been using the SO Tech for a few years and find it useful when shooting positional and also off barricades as hard on hard surfaces tend to bounce more. Before using it I just tapped some neoprene on the bottom of the stock. Still have a couple rifles set up that way.
The SO Tech skid plate attaches with two strips of velcro down the sides of the stock near the barrel channel but I put another down on the bottom to make sure it doesn't slip. I don't have any pics of the contact spots and the rifle is at GAP now so I can't take any but here's a pic of the skid plate installed.

Velcro tape is applied to the stock. The inside top of the skid had velcro on it.
Apply the tape to stock, slap on the skid... done.
