have started using a forster neck bushing bump die for my 20cal,but wanting to know if i'll need to f/l size at any stage.bumping just under 2 thou and chambering nicely.nosler brass has been sized 12 times, only been at this for a year so any info is much appreciated

Re: forster neck die ?

Your rifle will tell you if the brass needs FL sized. No reason to do any more than your doing until they won't chamber. If you have 12 firing on them now, I think the brass will fail before they need FL sized.

Re: forster neck die ?

thanks g.h any opinions on whether bumping just under 2 thou at each reload is considered overworking the brass?or should i back it off to size neck only until they start getting tight again-is forster the only neck bushing bump die or are there others?

Re: forster neck die ?

I bought several Forster "bump" dies for calibers I reload for and in hindsight I think I should have gone with the Redding S type FL bushing die. This die will set back the shoulder the same as the Forster but will also size the body a little making your ammo more consistent. With the bump die I noticed that after several firings that some cases felt tight in the chamber. The solution was a Redding body die in station #2 of my Dillon 550. So now I'm bumping the shoulder in one station and body sizing in the next..... cut to the chase and get the Redding Type S FL bushing die and be done with it. The important thing is to set the die to your rifles chamber.
