I have a Fort Knox gun safe with number keypad and had a problem opening the safe. After I entered the number, the safe registered and initiated the turning and unlocking but did not unlock the safe. I discovered that if the wheel is turned or pushed clockwise that the cogs don't initiate consistently. If you turn the wheel slight counterclockwise, this fixes the problem.

I would have to agree that this is a situation that needs attention from the manufacturer right away.

It has the signs of worse problems devolping soon which will result in some expensive options at the worst time.

My Ft.Knox has had the same characteristics as the O.P.'s since it was new. Never gotten any worse, also hasn't self healed.
Anyone know the cost of retrofitting the electrics with a mechanical lock works?
