    And the blender blades won.

Went to rummage in my tools to find something, and somehow the blades to the wife’s Ninja blender fell into the tool box. (Looking back at the crime scene, it looks like the damn cat knocked the blender over on top of the garage fridge, which made the blades fall into the toolbox which is right next to it).

When I went to stick my paw in, I felt a weird sensation then red everywhere.

Damn blade went damn near all the way through my thumb, and I barely felt it. After 10 minutes of it bleeding through numerous towels, we ran up to the nearest urgent care, who then referred me to a different urgent care.

There I had to get XRays to make sure I didn’t do damage to the nerves or whatnot, a tetanus shot, then stitches to close the over inch long laceration running through my thumb.

So yeah. Don’t get complacent and start rummaging around in your tool box without looking at what your doing.

With a cut that bad, you sure it wasn't a real ninja with a sword?

Ive had my share of stitches too. It's always the dumb shit that bites you.

One of mine was a box cutter that some idiot left in a spot on a conveyor with the blade open. Basically stabbed me in the leg when I walked by and bumped into it.

Checking out an aluminum framed motor out of a compressor that had a cooling fan on it. Put it in my bench vise snug, didn't want to crush it. The second I plugged in the cord that motor became airborne right at me. Naturally I stuck my left hand out to fend it off. 4 hours in the hospital and 13 stitches later I went home.

6 stitches and an x-ray? At the hospital ER, that'll be $4500. Local clinic, $30 co-pay. I learned my lesson after driving myself to the ER with a broken hand after a motorcycle wreck. I'll never go to the ER again unless its life, limb, or eyesight
    Very true.

When I was younger I worked at an auto glass recycling facility. Now I have more scars on my arms than an emo kid after a bad breakup.

I got pretty close with the ladies at the local urgent care. They'd have me stitched up and back to work in about an hour.

I have a kit for stuff like this. I just stitch myself up, much faster and I've gotten good at it. Of course if you haven't gotten a tetanus shot in 10 years, you have to go to the er still. Glad you got it stitched up.

    100% this.
    I work in the ER.

    People come in for congestion.

One earlier this week was diagnosed with the flu at urgent care and still felt like shit that afternoon.

They all have Medicaid and have zero financial responsibility for it.

@TheBigCountry - order you some quick clot.
They make small packs for cheap.
Great for stuff like this that doesnt control after a few minutes of good pressure.

I tried sewing on a set of stripes, once. If I can't close with super glue, I'm headed for help. A PJ once stitched up my left hand on the range. Didn't count as a rescue, but I was grateful.

Was tearing apart an old rotten out deck 3 or 4 years ago. Got stuck through my foot with a very nasty rusted nail. Was pretty deep but I would have managed it...except the tetanus shot, had no clue when I last had one. Wife convinced me to go to the ER to get a shot.

Nurse was a old grey hair gal, was super nice and could tell she probably seen it all.

Told me I could have waited until Monday and just got the shot from my PC physician and saved the trip to the ER. Not sure what the true protocol really is though....

Oh, and I learned the hard way about the ninja blades just like several others here. You don't imagine blender blades being that sharp until you FAFO.

Super Glue has been my friend for years. I can't get close to my roll-away, without F'n stabbing, cutting, poking, myself. Had hands of leather back in my A/C maint. days.
    Now...not so much. Mac:confused:

Psa a lipton tea bag will act as a coagulant. Just strap it on the wound works like magic. Learned that when I sliced the tip of my finger off with a mandoline.
A good mandline is no joke. User really needs to pay attention to their fingers around them.

And the Ninja blades.... reach into the dishwasher carefully. My wife uses her blender daily. Every morning... there's the blades waiting to get a victim.
