Looking for opinions and pros/cons between these 2. I've handled both but don't really have trigger time behind either and like them for the more standard stock geometry while being on the heavier side. Now, with a new barreled action on the way, I find myself behind the 8 ball for a stock. What do you like about them? I haven't used an Anschutz rail but like the concept. Whichever I choose will be getting an arca rail.

I haven't put my hands on a Foundation, so I can't directly compare the two. I've put my hands on a lot of stocks and chassis' and my PRS and ELR rifle are both in JAE chassis'.

What I love about it:
- Hands down the most comfortable stock or chassis to be behind. You'll hear this a lot. Has the ergonomics of a stock with the modularity of a chassis.
- Great build quality
- Modularity. Slots for rails (sides, bottom, NV, etc.), flush cups, adjustable cheek piece, etc.
- Accessories - they have been coming out with great accessories lately. Namely, the ARCA rails are an awesome accessory. They also have come out with NV rails and bag riders.
- CS is great. Lisa at JAE is great to work with

Cons:
- Cost. One of the more expensive chassis's out there. But you get what you pay for.

I’m in the same boat as OP thanks to a post yesterday that encouraged me to build. The foundation is beautiful. I actually don’t have a wood stock. The JAE is awesome as I’m not looking for one of these modern space gun chassis but man that is one hell of a price tag. I’ve still got a lot to learn. I think foundation will be hard to beat but I’d be worried to take it in the woods and beat it up. Following this thread.

I’ve sat behind both. While there is no doubt that the JAE is comfy and the modularity is nice....I wrote the check for the foundation. I just can’t warm myself to a chassis. I wouldn’t worry about the finish on the foundation one bit. The Exodus fits me to a T.

My stock path has went XLR Element, Manners T6A, Manners PRS2, to Foundation...

I like the JAE for the modularity but at the end of the day it is still a chassis which I do not care for.

Moved from a JAE to a foundation... no regrets. I had one of the earlier rev-A JAE so it was a touch heavier than the current version.

I didn't have any real complaints about the chassis other than it was a chassis. I just prefer the feel of a standard stock.. manners is too light so the Foundation fit the bill. I like how the foundation are machined to match your specific action and not just a 1 size fits all V-block on a chassis. I did have issues with fitment of the Rev-A cage in the JAE with my TL-3 (action chafing causing POI issues). As mentioned above, CS is top notch from JAE.. they replaced the cage free of charge and things settled down after that.

JAE grip angle and ergos are very nice for both prone and barricade work... that is probably the thing I miss most about the chassis. Even with that, I plan on running my Exodus for the long run.. It just works and fits me well. Exceptional product from exceptional people.

Hard to find a deal on a used Foundation.. might save $100 or so. I wouldn't ever buy a new JAE.. they run $1200-1500 used on this site quite frequently.

I’ve had both and sold both. Full disclosure, I am abnormally picky about my stuff and some of this analysis may be viewed as minor or trivial. That being said, I am of the belief when spending that much on a stock or chassis system that it should be about as perfect as perfect gets, and to me, neither of these stocks are worth the investment.

Regarding the JAE, I have large hands so the palm shelf basically does not allow my entire hand to be on the grip. It’s pretty uncomfortable. Not an issue for most but something to keep in mind. The cheek rest for whatever reason is “open” at the top and has some holes hard/jagged edges right where you put your face. You can cover it with foam or whatever but not exactly the type of finish I would expect from a stock of this class. The magazine adjustment takes some time to get right and you need to reset it each time you remove the BA from the chassis. Majority of the time, the mags are either tough to fit or fit too loosely. Forget about running different types at the same time. They don’t balance particularly well to begin with but add a heavy barrel contour and it feels like you’re swinging a 10 lb. weight from the muzzle. It’s also another $200+ to get them set up for ARCA/Adjustarails and after paying $1800 for the stock alone that’s just a no for me dawg. Hard pass, really don’t understand the love for them.

The MG1L I really had/have no complaints about other than cost. When you consider that you need the stock, bottom metal, plus additional investment to get it set up for ARCA compatibility, there’s just no way I can justify that when I can go buy an MPA for literally half the cost. Aside from being different and cosmetically pleasing to look at, they do not help you hit targets that you would otherwise miss. They are NICE, but they are not $1600+ nice.

I understand I’m in the minority but I’ll stick to my peasant MPAs, Manners, and ACCs.

Switched from JAE to Foundation. Really liked the JAE chassis. Was able top get behind a few foundation stocks at matches and they fit really well. Both are great. Just pick the one that fits you best. JAE’s are more generic to a specific action where the Fouindations are cut to a specific actions.

Thanks for all the input! I've talked with them and really appreciate the CS BOTH have had. I've been leaning Foundation, and think that's what I will go with. Couldn't justify JAE unless I found one 2nd hand on here. Excited to get my newest toy squared away!
