any one have experience with either, esp side by side comparison? did have a sauer in 6.5 and it was excellent. i do know there were some recalls which surprised me when i fond out. the 6.5 was IMHO = to tikka in quality. esp interested in word on the franchi. moving back to 308 so just asking. no,tikkas are about 40% higher than these,so not doable.

The only JP Sauer recalls on the Model 100 were in calibers 6.5x55 only.

FAQ / Frequently asked questions

Apparently it was a bad batch of barrels in 6.5 Swede that was the source.

My 100 is in 6.5 Creedmoor and is a solid shooter. The mag system on the Model 100 is better than the one on the regular Tikka's. It's a polymer 5 round mag, and 10 rounders are available. However, the 10 round Tikka CTR mag is a bit better than the Sauer and I've owned all 3.

I would not be hesitant in buying a one in 308. But I should note you cannot turn the Sauer into a PRC rifle like you can a Tikka. The Sauer is an excellent hunting rifle, no more or less.
