I agree with pmclaine, as well as the second half of your post. There's no doubt in my mind that this is their strategy - playing up to the next elections and planning a wave of accusations. The problem I think they may have, however, is if the voters here in Alabama actually DO elect Moore in the face of all these allegations, doesn't that indicate that the strategy is flawed and the voters aren't taking the bait?
Can any of you folks with a better pulse on MN politics offer an opinion on our chances of filling his seat with a Republican?

Glad this douche bag is history. He was elected in the first place under dubious circumstances. Leftists are trying to compare Franken's behavior to Moore's alleged behavior. Big difference is photo proof and Franken's admission. None of that exists with Moore. Secondly, I don't automatically believe these female accusers, sorry. That's not how it works in this country. You prove your allegations, period. Good thing our justice system doesn't work on the "guilty if the accuser says you are" principle.

Definitely not from MN, but that is going to be an uphill battle. The governor of MN is a Democrat and will undoubtedly appoint a fellow Democrat to fill the seat. MN is known to be a liberal state, so don't hold your breath on a Republican winning the seat.
But is Minnie a communist/socialist state?

Maybe someone from MN will chime in. From what I know of MN, which is not much, it doesn't appear to be all out commie/socialist like say California or New York are.

Fair enough. Their Governor is a leftist and gets to make the appointment, but I was looking farther forward. I didn't pay a lot of attention to the Franken election but I thought I remembered it being more of a "steal" than a decisive win for him. I was hoping for a scenario like we have in AL where the governor appointed a replacement for Sessions, but we get to vote on his permanent replacement.
I'd guess that Franken won on name recognition and novelty much the same as Ventura. An election between two more conventional candidates may open a door for a Republican? Although they were basically alone in the Midwest going for Hillary, along with Chicago which carried IL.
Al Franken's election was basically re-counting the ballots over and over till they got the numbers to his side & then refusing to count anymore after that.

I'd be willing to bet their strategy is as you say. However, they are pushing and hoping hard for a win in Alabama. If they don't get the win, they probably (already) think that they can sway enough opinions with the same escapades in other states because all other states are "smarter" than Alabama. If I am correct, I think they have seriously underestimated the amount of outrage there is against them, not only in Alabama, but the entire nation. Which is fine with me. Their tactics don't seem to be paying very big dividends. Let's hope it stays that way. Ideally, they'd just knock it off, but that 'ain't gonna' happen.

The simple answer would to describe Minnesota as similar or slightly to the right of present day Colorado.
Dayton is full tilt liberal on many issues, but surprisingly signed a bill a couple years ago that gave us access to suppressors after stating he would refuse to sign it into law. He met with GOCRA and listened to reason.
There are still many old school Dems in rural areas. The Twin Cities is a mix of Rep/Dem, with Dems having a distinct advantage.
