Thought that might get some attention and thought with the shortage of reloading supplies this would brighten your day.
Just got off the phone with a friend. Guess early this week a Hornady delivery truck upset near here on I-70 in Ohio. This friends son works for the State and arrived on scene a few hours after the wreck to check the site for any needed damage repair. He didn't know what type of truck it was but as soon as he saw bullets laying everywhere he called his Dad to bring some bags FAST. I guess two guys were there as soon as the truck was removed and they scarfed up all kinds of boxes that were scattered all over the area.
Buddy got there and spent a couple hours sorting thru the grass and ditch and gathered up over 4500 assorted pistol bullets, he did say he had over 2000 240gr XTP 44 bullets. Didn't seem to be any rifle bullets on the truck but you have to wonder what those two guys picked up with getting all the boxes that the driver didn't get thrown back into his delivery truck before it was towed away. I can only imagine.
Oh well, wish I'd have known or been there when it happened but glad at least a buddy got some of them. Wonder where the other stuff went. You don't hear of this happening too much, especially now that there is a shortage of reloading supplies. Bet there is probably still quite a few buried in the weeds but would take some time with a metal detector to find.
So next time you go to you favorite LGS and see empty shelves just think about how many were lost in the wreck and are sitting in somebodies garage that probably don't even reload.
