With all the Tacticalrifles.net, crap going on all over the site and other shooting forums, it just seems a customer has no rights anymore. I as a consumer feel it is my right to criticize, the service and products I purchase. However, in the new politically correct USA, it appears consumers have no rights, except the right to spend their money. Here is my observation:
1. A customer purchased a rifle, and they are not happy with what they paid for said product. They have the right to criticize and condemn any product or service they have received. They spent their money. If others come out in support, that is the greatest thing that can happen. It gets things changed.
2. Company sells the product. It is their job to provide the highest standard of product they produce, and if they settle for lower quality control or to deliver a sub standard product, in the customers eyes. They asked for the criticism, when they took payment. If they don't want criticism offer a "no questions asked, money back guarantee."
3. Companies doing business in this day and age need to realize, the internet will fuel or destroy your business. Accept it. Free speech rules, and you can sue all you want, but eventually bad business practices will kill you. You may win one round in court, but in the end the damage is done and over time loss of a few sales here and there because everyone did not agree with the decision will kill your business. If you don't like the reputation you have earned with your service, then 1. Change your ways of doing business, or 2. Get a fast food franchise to where your service does not matter.
4. As consumers, we must stick together. Whether it be buying a meal, a 8k rifle, or a 40k automobile, when a business railroads and shoves an inferior product down our throats, and we take it, we have asked for this treatment. If you want changes made to the products and services you receive, let bad service and products be known.
5. Sometimes a bad product does not get noted, till the person that bought feels it is time to question it publicly. Not everyone wants to admit that got shanked for several thousand dollars, but seeing others having the same thing done, will make them tell their story. I bought a $300 saw a few years back, was total crap. Tossed it in the corner of the garage till several friends asked me what I thought of the saw I bought. I didn't want to admit, I had bought a total piece of crap, till they thought about buying one I had bought. I relayed my experiences, and they spent their money elsewhere. Seeing someone else getting ready to waster their hard earned money, made me feel responsible to tell my story, and save them a disappointment and loss of money.
This forum has provided me a wealth of usable product reviews and information. It is my choice how I put that information to use. There are some companies that advertise here, I have received fantastic service from, while there are some I would only return to if I had to use them as a last option source. My choice as a consumer. I commend the Hide for the service they provide, and how they call situations and products. The member base , I believe provides one of the most valuable backgrounds for our sport around.
There are some here that are aloof of others, there are some here that go out of their way to help anyone, we have members that have only been shooting days or weeks, and members that were bottle fed from birth to shoot. We have vendors, consumers, posers, wannabes, military, law enforcement, blue collar, white collar, low income, and the rich. In the end the Hide is nothing but a community for information , gathering , sharing, and critiquing. I sincerely hope, that this current issue plays out completely in favor of the Hide.
I have confidence and belief that the truth will prevail. The sad part is that our country has gotten to be so no critical of things that need fixed, none of us know how this will play out. Let us continue to exercise our right to criticize, and call out bad products, experiences, and customer service. This is the only way to correct a bad situation. Just remember, if you let one bad situation prevail, another will eventually happen, and eventually this becomes acceptable for any product, or service.
My overall take, is the knowledge of a bad product is hurting business. If the 26,000+ views, only 1 percent were considering them, that is 260 potential buyers. If 10 percent decided to not pursue order and shop elsewhere that is 26. 26 lost orders at roughly 7k is 182,000 lost in potential sales. That is alot of lost revenue.
Futhermore, for all the positive reviews I have found, I have always been skeptical of any review I read. Most manufacturers tend to selectively send their best products to be tested. They are thoroughly reviewed and tested before being sent out. The liability alone makes them cautious. I am especially skeptical of print material reviewing a product that they also carry advertising on.
