Will Cerakote appliers do a Cerakote job on a rifle that has been completely painted with Krylon ? If so what would be the process and what would be the approximate extra cost ? Just checking, may want to have one done in the future that has about 3-4 coats of Krylon on it. While we are at it, what would be an average price to have say a Rem 700 SPS Cerakoted with the barrel and action a solid OD green color and a Bell and Carlson stock in GAP camo color ? There are a couple of local appliers but I hav'nt check them out yet.

Thanks,
Danny

Well, as a Certified Applicator myself, it would be no big deal really. Every metal part gets blasted to remove all traces of old finish- including Krylon, then prepped accordingly. So what is on it currently is not really an issue. The stock can be blasted at a lower pressure to remove any krylon and rough up the surface as well.
So if they are Certified applicators or even experienced, your project shouldn't be anything that isn't run of the mill to them. Prices vary, so I would consult them directly to get accurate pricing.

Theres a deal going on the Hide right now. $62.50 to cerakote your rifle, handgun, scope. They will blast it before applying the new finish. My AR is on its way back to me right now but everyone has been very pleased with the work. Can't beat the deal.

Danny, before any cerakote is applied the surfaces get prepped and blasted down. This will remove not only krylon, but any other finish currently on the device.

There is a sniper's hide group buy going on now for cerakoting. You could get your SPS barreled action coated OD green for ~ $60. You might need to pay a little bit more if they need to strip apart the bolt and you have to pay to send the barreled action in a hard case each way (but that's usually standard fare).

Do do a stock in GAP cammo, you're looking ~ $250 for the stock only. Add another $100 if you want to include the barreled action (this was from controlled chaos arms ... their prices are consistent with other vendors).

Thanks for the replies. I am probably going to have this done but not sure when. I will most likely check with the applicators close by, even if the fees happen to be a little more, I would probably save by cutting out the shipping cost and just deliver the rifle to them in person.

Thanks Again,
Danny
