I've been looking for a decent shooting bag they all seem to site very low ... Anyone use the 9 or 10" bull bag the Cradle Height approx: 3.5 this seem very low too me for bench shooting?

I'm looking for something in the 6-7 inch range

Re: BullBags anyone use them?

I bought all 3 sizes offered by Midway and the one I like best is their wedge because it really offers the most variation. At its highest the wedge I have is at 7" so it might be a bit short for what you want but if you can find one larger that's what Id get.

I added to the original post to be more specific .. it was a bit vague.

Re: BullBags anyone use them?

I use the big one, 15" I believe, and I have to set it on top of a big thick cutting board. They are too low otherwise for my liking, but they hold the rifle rock steady much better than my Caldwell Front rest and rear bag.

Re: BullBags anyone use them?

front bags like midway offers are great for working up loads and zeroing scopes as they are super steady, I love mine but sometime wished they were a bit taller too. I bring several chuncks of 2x12 and layer them up as needed.

Re: BullBags anyone use them?

Thank you you just saved me money im going to email them and see if they have any taller versions in the works ... The X series seems to be more then i need all though taller. The use of blocks that often rock is the issue i want to get ride off with a full height bag.

Re: BullBags anyone use them?

I love my Uncle Buds bull bag.I think its the 15" one.you can find them at www.bullssbag.com or call 1-717-294-6000.

I got a chance to talk to the guy who came up with the bag at a gun show one time.he told me that if I had a problem with my bag that he would give me another one.all I needed to do was to ship my old bag to him and he would ship me another new one back.cannot complain about that.

one thing that helped me with my bag was to keep adding sand to it.the first few trips to the range I added sand to it.now its really tight and holds its shape alot better.been shooting off it for about 10 years now.heck it stays under the back set of my truck.

I understand where your comeing from ... Good design but shooting is about comfort and for me i find a 4 or 6 inch block with a 2 inch bag nice and comfy. Something i can use my first under the butt for elivation or a rear bag if i choose too.

The taller bags look way too tall ... They are missing a mid hight bag and i do have an idea to run buy them ... Two adjustable strapes in between the legs could offer hight adjustment, it may make the bag less stable ..

Going to bust everything out and measure my ideal height off the Harris then give them a call see what they can do.

Re: BullBags anyone use them?

hey I think at most you will get 4 inches out of it.will have to measure it to see.I always put my rifel in the bag so it rest on the bottom of it.will say it holds it like a vise.when my rifel is in the bag the bottom of the stock the small corner of the butt is about an inch from the table.sorry just remembered or table has a one inch rubber pad on top of it.so it would without the pad touch the table.so yeah I am getting with the pad about 5 or so inches out of the bag.

one thing to look for is that he had more newer models to choose from.my bag is his first one.the only thing I hate about my bag is the cost when I got it.I think I paid Midway 60 or plus bucks for it.now they are around $45.

Re: BullBags anyone use them?

We'll i started out looking for an inexpensive shooting bag I ended up getting the X7 we shale see if its worth the coin. For the price it better be the only and last rest i will ever need.

Now to find fill .. think I'm going to buy bulk plastic pellet they won't absorb water or be overly heavy.

Re: BullBags anyone use them?

blasting sand is what I use in mine.I know it makes it heavy but works.it all so only cost about $5 for 80 lbs of it.trust me a 50 lbs bag isn't too bad.mine is under the set of my truck just waitting for me to get it out.

Idea for ya.fill the top bags with the pellets and the bottom ones with sand.this should lighten it up plus hold it down.just make sure the top bags are really full so they can do their job.

Re: BullBags anyone use them?

I ordered the plastic pellets already, If i did my math right it will be just under 20lbs ... if this turns out to be too light I dump some fill and go with half sand half pellets.

I just wanted to stay away from any thing that could draw moisture.

Re: BullBags anyone use them?

We'll my measurment where way off and i had to buy more way over how much i wanted to spend but im already committed much like a stimulous package .. will weight in at about 35#s . On the plus side shouldnt be effected by moisture or rodents.

Re: BullBags anyone use them?

I was able to use half the bag with the .22 today ... Once the rest of the fill comes in today i will be breaking in the 5R with it. Been itching to get that out.
