I am looking for a front QD sling mount but, and here's the hard part, I don't want the typical mount point that slides on a rail. After going through the phase of putting enough rail space on my rifles to mount every accessory under the sun I have finally come around to realize that I don't need all of that. So I am changing out my current 4 rail front hand guard to a smooth one that has screw holes where I can mount short sections of rail as needed for items (i.e. a white light). I realize I could add a short section of rail and put the mount on it but it ends up sticking out from the rail too far and presents an added snag hazard.
So I am looking for a QD mount point that just screws to the rail and eliminates the need to add the rail section. LaRue makes a mount exactly like what I want but it is designed specifically for their OBR and PredatAR rail utilizing a single bolt and the raised section of their rail to stabilize the mount. On a flat hand guard, the single bolt would allow theirs to spin in place.
So does anyone know of a mount similar to the LaRue that would bolt directly to a rail? Many thanks in advance for any ideas.
