Front rest

I currently have a Caldwell front rest and while it works I would like one with a fine tune for elevation. The one I have vertically adjusting is rather loose before you tighten it down then you cannot fine tune . It does have a fine tune for azimuth adjustments. I have not tried their “ fire control “ model with joystick or is there another brand to try. I do not currently shoot competitive bench rest but do like to work on producing small shot groups ..... keeps this old man happy

I got one of these "speed screws" and it's really slick how it allows me to adjust elevation

I have tried all 3 of the Caldwell Rock series and find them all lacking.

I like it, I have a cast triangle bald eagle, its heavy and solid.
I would probably skip the windage adjustment model if I were to do it again, it has some serious lash in the mechanism where the cable twists a bit in the air before it acutally gets solid enough to push or pull left or right. People have modified them to eliminate that problem but I dont use it all that much, I just set it to the middle and havent touched it since other than when showing it to people.

The coarse elevation adjustment takes two hands as you have to spin one knob to turn it up or down and then a second knob to actually lock it in position, let go of the first knob before locking it and it will crash back to the bottom.
The fine adjustment is easier as it wont crash down on you, it will just rock slightly without locking it.

The sinclair is nice but 2.5x as much.
A joystick rest would obviously be amazing for quick easy adjustment but it also cost 5x as much.
For the 150 bucks the bald eagle cost me I think its the obvious choice over a caldwell.
