Are you the adventurous sort? Do you like to spend days and night in the backcountry? Do you camp or hike in places with burn bans or high altitudes?

Well I’ve got just the thing for you, the same meals that fuel our fighting men and women all over the world. That’s right, everyone’s favorite vacuum packed shelf stable food: MREs.

I’ve got 17 cases available, a mix of menus A&B. Some are newer, and some are older.

I’m asking $10 a meal, or $100 per case plus shipping OBO.

If you’re in the New Braunfels area, you can grab the lot for $1500.

When do they expire
So, I don’t mean to blow off your question since it is valid, however- there isn’t a printed or official “expiration date” on military MREs.

The date printed on the box (part of which can be seen in one of the above photos for example) is the packaged date.

The orange/red stickers which I’ve taken a couple photos of are known as “Time and Temperature Indicators” and are what the military uses to determine the freshness of the MREs. If the center of the circle is lighter than the surrounding area (as seen above) then they are officially 100% good to go, and if it’s darker, they’re generally disposed of.

That said, even when that indicator is darker than the surrounding area, that doesn’t mean they’ve expired. It’s more of a “Best by” rather than an “expiration” (think canned goods)

As long as the meals themselves aren’t bloated, they’re good to go. You can see the below link which reiterates all of that information.

Now, all of that said, newer is generally better. Without being able to look at each box and count them at the moment, I know I have a mix of packaged dates.

I have a handful of 24 dated boxes

A handful of 22 dated boxes

A handful of 21 dated boxes

And a handful of boxes dated 16-18. I’ve gone ahead and removed a meal from these boxes and opened it up (and backfilled it with a newer, unopened meal) to confirm that they are in fact still good.
