I have a DPMS LR308 and it has been shooting pretty darn good. I came across a good deal on a new FA Criterion barrel and thought I'd give it a try. The barrel is a 20" stainless steel, 1/12 twist, heavy contour with a target crown. My LR 308 had the 24" stainless bull barrel. After a few trips to the range it has become clear that it's not too happy with 168's, but absolutely loves 155's. These happen to be Hornady 155 AMAX bullets. I'm going to try some Sierra 155's and Barnes 155's Match Burners. The load was Winchester brass, Remington primers, 43.5gr of 8208 at 2.795 OAL. I feel it's safe to say the the FA Criterion barrels are quite respectable and a great deal vs. the more expensive ones. I'm happy. I'd love to try the 1/10 twist... FYI the groups are 5 shots.

My 18.5" stainless 1:10 does well with both 175 SMKs and 178 Amax over H4895.

I'm too technologically retarded to figure out how to post photos to the forum, but I get solid .75 MOA 5-shot groups at 100 yards from a front shooting rest.

You know Criterion is a division of Krieger...right? Basically, they are Krieger blanks that are button rifled rather than cut rifled to save on cost a bit.

Yea, but there's a lot of people who will say they are more segregated from Krieger than that. .75 MOA is pretty much what I expected from FA, but if the average is lower than that with tailored hand loads then I may go back to the drawing board. My understanding was that the JP's were closer to .5. I'd really like to see what the average is for each with factory and hand-rolled ammo.

Here is mine. 168 FGMM 5-shot. 22" fa barrel 1:12. Im still getting into precision shooting so no expert here. Bottom is CCB and top is after 25 rds of warm up.

This may be a bit off topic but I bought a criterion barrel not too long ago for my r 700 and have been very pleased with the results. I went with a 28in, 1:10 twist, and 1in diameter.

That was a 3 shot group at 200m during some load development. Overall I am looking to build a precision Lr308 and criterion is currently at the top of my list for affordable and effective barrel options.

I know I'm late to the discussion, but I have an Aero Precision M5E1 with a 24-inch Fulton Armory bull barrel by Criterion.

Other parts in the build are:
- APA Little Bastard
- Toolcraft NiB BCG
- Magpul PRS Stock
- Larue MBT-2s trigger
- Superlative Arms Gas Block
- Vortex PST Gen II 5-25x EBR-7c FFP
- Seekins 20MOA mount

I've done a few load work ups with varying results. Best performance has been with 175gr SMK and 40.5 grains H4895 and 43 grains Reloader 15. I haven't tried the 155 Scenars yet, but have heard great things.

I love all my Criterion barrels. After a little break in they are capable of some out standing precision... typically I am the weak link.

22" 6.5CM hybrid self assm. PSA , 10rd Horn. AG 140gr, 100yds.. benched scoped , bagged front and rear... ( see the weak link is me.. Lol, the flier )

And because we all like to shot surplus... 20rds Sanitized DAG 7.62x51 surplus... ( or the ball ammo that shot the best group

First build here - considering a Criterion 18" Hybrid profile. Not too sure about pros and cons of going with the lighter profile. Jumping in here is a bit like deciding where to grab onto a merry-go-round. Barrel length decision driving gas length decision, driving buffer decisions, driving stock decisions, then you start thinking about weight and finding you are back to your barrel choice. Its an education! Right now though those pros and cons of barrel weight are where I'm stuck. Wanted an 18" but also a rifle length gas system and most I've looked at are mid-length. The Criterion hybrid was one of the few I found that were Rifle length. Accuracy reports on the Hybrid profile under sustained firing... something like 10-shot groups?

I have the 16" rifle gas hybrid barrel and it has worked with everyting I've put through it. My rifle is set up with a KAC receiver extension, a LMT MWS spring, and an H3 buffer. I also have an SLR adjustable gas block for fine tuning. Here are a couple 10 shot groups at 100 yards using Federal M1A 168 grain OTM. These were sll fired through a Surefire 300SPS suppressor.
