Yeah, I grew up playing iwth the black kids who lived on the farm behind ours. Never saw a difference until the 60s' when all the shit started. Nicest people you'd want to meet.
I was an acquaintance with Orval Faubus’s son Farrell before he OD’ed in 76.
Met Orval in 76 too, visited with him a quite a few times. Very smart man , very kind …a WW ll Vet. I could listen to him for hours.
Got a bad rap cause of LR Central in 57. He didn’t hate blacks at all , just basically followed orders. Didn’t trust many other politicians at all.
Local Blacks went to to their own elementary in town , then rode a bus 30 miles to a Black jr and HS. We still had “ blacks only “ or “whites only” signs. When integration came , that changed everything , they went all the way grades1-12 with us.
Our sports teams suddenly became really good.😁
Still see Blacks I graduated with every day….and their kids and grandkids.

I remember that well. In the little town I lived in there was at the park, a "Trade Lot', where every saturday all the country folk would pull their wagon or p/u truck full of produce, or farm stuff, to sell or trade. 4 bathrooms. Colored Men, Colored Women, White Men and White Women.

What’s the punchline?

One of my earliest memories, early 50's, is flying on the DC3. Just a little later I remember coming into National at night and she was so low I could see a guy sitting on his front porch reading the newspaper. What a plane. The film goes deep into the military side of her.
