This wins the internet cuteness award for the day! 😎

I had a black lab like that, loved my daughter, nothing came into the yard. I remember one time when the mother-in-law came over and "Hoover" (sucked up food like a vacuum cleaner) just sat down between the daughter and mother-in-law and stared her down. I had to leave the room, I was laughing so hard.

Made me think of how generations of breeding and training come into play. Thats what G. Shepherds are bred to do. My buddy has a couple that follow him around like he's shitting prime rib. Nikita my (40%) wolfdog is just the opposite, really independent. She would go over and check the kid out, make sure its ok, then ignore it. I honestly dont know if she would protect it from a person, but God help any animal came into the yard, it would be an entirely different story.

My 2nd previous shepard was a great friend and protector to my son when he was a baby, but he passed just a couple years later.

Got my last shep when my son was 8. The dog didn't care that my son was even alive. Had no interest in him at all.

Every dog is different
