The old Furka Pass rail bridge being re-assembled in the Spring. The Swiss take it down/stow it every fall because of heavy snows in the winter. The old/upper Furka pass rail line still operates in late Spring, Summer and early Fall with tourist steam train excursions.
This upper line has been replaced by the Furka Basis (Base) tunnel, which is open year round. Because the pass is closed in winter, automobiles and small trucks are loaded onto trains at Obergoms or Realp (West and East portals) and hauled through the Furka Basis tunnel.
The location of this bridge is not far from where "Tilly Masterson" shoots downhill past James Bond (in the movie "Goldfinger) and misses Goldfinger while he's stopped, eating an apple and taking in the scenery. The next scene in the movie is James Bond chasing Masterson and finally making her crash her Mustang (near Andermatt) because of his deployment of the tire shredder hubs in his Aston Martin DB5.
