Great looking steaks

Cooked a couple tonight on the Weber grill.

Excellent flavor but surprisingly tough. Like, really tough.

Not much for marbling. Gotta figure out a different method. Crockpot, maybe.

Gotta figure out a different method

Maybe try reverse sear. A little tender lovin in the oven followed by brief caramelizing heat.

ETA: I read somewhere costco "blade tenderizes" their steaks, since you cut those up yourself maybe it wasn't. If not you could also try aging it at home.

I've never understood vests. If it's cold enough for a vest, wouldn't your arms be cold too? Wouldn't a jacket or coat make more sense, or is it a layering thing just to keep your core warmer? To be fair, we don't generally get brutal cold down here.

Poosball.
Core temp stays up, so extremities can be less encumbered while still warm. Same principle as wearing heavy insulated tall bib overalls without a jacket while working outside in very cold weather. Head covering usually helps, especially as middle age overtakes.

And becoming folically challenged. My shaved head is to hide the bald spots my Maternal Grandfather blessed me with 🤣. You don’t know how much heat a head of hair keeps in until it’s gone!

You can see my weird bald pattern in this selfie taken by my sidekick (side chick/wife?) 😆

This is the second loin I’ve bought. The first was utterly amazing, darn near prime in quality. I expected more from this one.

You could try to sous vide them as well if you find they’re tough. Unfortunately, until you cut into them, don’t know what the marbling is going to be like. I still cook it the same way on the grill, but the meat is broken down more.

People make fun of fleece vests now… but growing up in Vermont it was the miracle coat!!!

I tried to convince Rebecca to get a vest for our Yellowstone area trip.
She was against it because she felt they were unneeded.
Jokingly, I handed one of the Patagonia puffy ones to her and she said they were just weird.

Next up was a Smart Wool one. It was very thin and almost unnoticeable once it was put on.

Well, that was it. She wore that thing a whole lot. In fact, she wore hers more than I wore mine.

I think she likes them now.

Neither one of us own a puffy coat or vest though.

Like bubble gum. Chew it til the flavor is gone, then spit it out. They looked really good.

Pretty mild winters down here on the gulf coast. I wear a vest a lot at work. Being a welder, it helps not having all the bulk from a jacket on my arms and doesn't bind you up as much in awkward positions.

I can usually throw on a couple layers under my coveralls with the vest and I'm good down to the 40's. After that, break out the jacket and the bibs.

I was showing the wife how to drain the oil catch can on her Oldsmobile. She asked about the amount of mileage before draining. I told her every 1500 miles but I am going to get one that should be good for 3000 miles. My phone was on the bench 15 feet away. I've been getting advertising for catch cans since.

Also USPS: “Package was not delivered because we could not access the property.”

I guess the grass and sidewalk were unsurmountable obstacles.

Wal Mart we have delivered your groceries, entered your home and put them all away. We have also rearranged your cupboards to match our stocking system in our stores. Have a great day!

I’ve gotten that before. Catch was I had two very small bubble mailers from the same company being delivered on the same day. One was delivered and the other had that message. It ended up coming the next day but was weird.
