Israel does not get “a few shekels” from us, they get a shitload of stolen tax $$(But you are also correct that the entitlement programs is an unsustainable mountain-load of $$). You can also count all the bribe money we send to all the other countries in the region so they’ll play nice with Israel.

In comparison of entitlements handed out for votes in America… it’s peanuts.

Hey, I don’t think we should be sending money to any foreign countries. The Marshall plan should have been the end of our largesse.

And the trillions wasted in third world shitholes have just made them shittier.

And the tax and spend war on poverty has made our country shittier… and destroyed generations… and huge swaths of America.

All while condemning (even attacking) local and faith based efforts to “help neighbors”’which was how communities handled themselves for generations!

Most of that money is spent with US weapons manufacturers. Then under a different flag, Israel does things, so our boys don’t have to.

We help them, they help us.

On average inflation corrected we gift them around 3.8 billion a year. That works out to a little over 10 bucks per US citizen.

I understand your concern, but what we get out of it is worth what we put in.

BTW, I am honestly not sure this picture is from the Obama Basketball court..... the picture honestly looks older. But maybe it is. The point being that every President has made changes. Some massive. Probably the biggest in 'modern' times was when Jackie Kennedy spent millions to massively restore and redecorate. But in the process made huge structural changes. I believe including the addition of underground Situation Room and other big changes.

Anyway.... just a cool picture.

I understand that Trump and private donors are fronting the money for the ballroom. I've heard costs of 250 to 300 million dollars thrown around. If true, that's a pretty good tab for a ballroom. But I also remember hearing, quite a while back, about an upscale rural resort adding a new wing that cost quite a bit. I think it was the Greenbrier in West Virginia.
