When I was at Shot, Pulsar had one on display, mounted on dayscope.
I didnt get the chance to investigate how the day scope mount to FXQ was
configured.. nor did I personally attach and remove the thermal from the day optic.
Next year at Shot I will throughly test out these things.
Points of interest on the FXQ units that I noted:
They (FXQ):
*are 384 resolution currently, and that was a detraction for me
*run on 123 batteries, not the pulsar rechargeable pack (IPS5/10)
capable of using outboard power bank, yes..
*the display is in green, more similar to NV than thermal likeness
*the mount system is specific to Objective lense physical size, meaning you
would have to predetermine dayoptic OBJ size.. and would need to purchase additional
(If possible) adapter mounts to use other size OBJ day optics
*3x(FXQ38) and 5x(FXQ) are the listed maximum day optic power ratings
I don't know how Pulsar determines this and at what point of blurry.. they
cut off the top end limit. But this is a variable that anyone as a buyer should
investigate and test in person.
*Pulsar states you can remove and reinstall the unit and maintain zero.
*Pricetag is up there close with Trail Xp series. For me, I choose going with the Trail
over the FXQ because of the 640 image.. but I understand the desire and attributes
that come with a thermal clip on.
I'd love to try a FXQ out in the field, to get some real live data on how it performs.
I would definitely recommend trying out one before buying.. and also trying a quality
640 thermal also, if you haven't.. beforehand.. so you can judge for yourself what
Image and performance your money is buying.
