I started searching for game related threads on the Hide and found quite a few. I think the main problem is there is no gaming section so the threads either get put here in the movie/media section or in the Bear Pit.

So I was just wondering how many gamers?
Are on the hide and would a separate subforum be worth asking for, or if the request for such would be well received?

I know Sniper's Hide is a shooting forum, but it's nice to talk about common interests with other shooters.
 
I'm all for a gaming section as long as it doesn't turn into a faggy CoD only section. I swear that franchise has ruined FPS games! Anyways, yeah I'm a gamer. I prefer old school games though that actually offer challenge. Such as Mega Man games. Ever try a no Candle run through Death Mountain in Zelda 2? Well, I've done it!

Gamer here... it would be cool to have a game forum, the more shit to read the better. If you have a PS3 you need to play "The Last of Us"

Or, you guys could put down the game controllers, drag yourselves out of your parent's basements and go shooting or fishing, or camping, or hunting. Then again, the internet does need another gaming forum.

Why because doing those things makes you cool or a badass? Does it help you fit in better with all the "operators" on this site when you disparage someone else for something they like to partake in? I happen to play video games occasionally and I can assure you that I don't live in anyone's basement.

Slapchop, as hard as it probably is for you to comprehend, beating citizens with billy clubs while wearing a badge and a video recorder is not a video game.

My basement is fuckin awesome, moms keeps the macNcheese hot on the stove and brings me my Gamefly games when they come in the mail.

Camping, fishing and other outdoor stuff is dirty and boring.
 
<----- Is a Proud gamer and have been for over 30 years . I really enjoyed The Last Of Us . That game is going to be hard to beat for a long time . I also think the new Call of Duty Ghost has some Amazing game updates this time. The 10 person Squad vs Squad that you create is going to be great. I have had just about every major console from Atari to the newest ones . I already have a Playstation 4 and Xbox One pre ordered and i normally spend around 3500 on my gaming PC's it's been a few years since i have updated it's about time. I think a gaming section would be cool even if we just start one and keep it going in the pit or where ever .

Nope but my Basement is Huge 16 foot by 26 foot . And its a guess what Game room =). I have 3 son's and all of them like playing Games as well as Shooting and camping and doing different sports. I would much rather my Son's stay home on a Friday night and have friends over and i know where they are then to be out trying to show off and be cool and drinking and fighting like i did in High School . Here is a idea lets list a few of the games we are playing now like our top 5...
A couple of my most wanted games that are coming out are .

1. Mad Max
2. Call of Duty Ghost for the Playstation 4 and PC
3. EA's new UFC game
4. Everquest Next

I currently got a few playthroughs going on. Here they are in order of priority:

1. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64 Emulator)
2. Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (Game Cube Emulator)
3. Mega Man Unlimited (PC Game)
4. Breath of Fire (SNES Emulator)
5. Contra: Shattered Soldier (PS2/PS3)
 
At any given time, I only have 1 or 2 games at the same time. I have two young boys that play too but only on weekends.

1. Last of Us
2. Max Payne
3. Tomb Raider

These games are good, would recommend them highly. I did miss out on the pre-order for a PS4...

I do have to say shooting and gaming have a ton in common. I'm not talking about games featuring weapons. I'm talking about the social stigma. Sure both are popular on TV and movies, but when a "normal" person starts talking about going shooting or playing a video game everything changes. Haven't we all at some point been asked what we were doing for the weekend and responded honestly with range/game? Do you remember the look you get from the other person? It's not always positive, especially in some states and social settings.

I've played since beta. So there is always the newest version on my system somewhere. It's great when you only have ten minutes to waste, but you really want to waste them.

I've been playing video games for a while now. I used to only play FPS games, but now I've graduated to RTS's and pretty much anything else. However I game exclusively on a PC (not trying to start a PC master race rant.) So a lot of my 'game' time is spent trying to mod stuff or create missions in games like ArmA3.

Could someone please define "internet tough guy" for me?

It's hard to go camping, shooting, fishing, and hunting in the hour or two after I put the kids in bed before I go to bed myself. You can actually do all those things and play video games. Not at the same time though, I don't think.

To all you guys that say games are a waste of time: ? how many of you sit and watch TV shows, football, baseball, nascar - guess what / at least i'm interacting in a way and using my brain (mostly trying to not get stabbed by 12 year olds in COD & BF3)

I love this thread. I'm an occasional gamer, usually only if my brother wants me to do a local match with him on CoD (I always win ;))

ETA: before I got rid of my 360, I used to love the Gears of War series

At 46 I still like to play games now and then. Had an original play station but had to get rid of it as I would play like 35-40 hours on a weekend (really) to the point I couldn't move my thumbs (Resident evil, Tomb raider, etc). Then I got into PC games... I build my own PC's specifically for gaming (AMD quad core overclocked to 4GHz on a Asus MoBo and liquid cooled with 8GB of RAM and forgot my BUS speed, oveclocked Asus 5870 video all in a Antec gaming case - could use an updated video card). It's a couple of years old but still "competitive" for most systems. Currently hooked up to the 55" high Def in my bedroom too (which my wife hates). Don't play very much anymore now that I have kids... But I liked Halo 1 & 2, MoH and CoD series (still working through black ops 2 that I got for Xmas), Half life series, Team Fortress, CS, FEAR, Max Payne, etc. Since I don't like televised sports, nascar and think most TV is crap, I read a lot (Scifi) and surf the net learning stuff (been reading a lot on balistics lately which plays to my being an Enginerd). Gaming can be fun and even some quality family time with the kids... My wife has a Wii and it allows us to play/compete with our 7 and 11 y.o. and is fun. Definitly a change from playing Scrabble, Uno, or Sorry with the kids...
 
I've also built my own gaming PC. First one I ever built and I'm pretty damn proud of it. CPU is an Intel Quad Core i7 and it's not even been overclocked yet and it's at 3.9GHz and has 16GB of memory. I really want to get an SSD for it and use my 1TB HDD as storage, but SSDs are just still too damn expensive and don't offer that great of space yet. I also need to get a dedicated GPU. Even though games are running quite well, I do think it's better to have a dedicated GPU so as to not bottle neck the CPU.

As for gaming with kids, I have 3 kids ages 15, 7, and almost 3. If you're doing the math in your head, the 15 year old is not my son, but rather my little brother who I am legal guardian over and I consider him my son. Anyways, all 3 of them game with me. I am raising the 2 youngest on mainly old school games that actually offer challenge such as Mega Man and Contra. Plus they don't have storylines to follow and they can focus on just gameplay which IMO is the most important aspect of gaming. Way too many of the modern games have storylines and cutscenes that are so fucking long, that it feels more like you're watching a movie rather than playing a game. But in spite of that, they do like playing some of the modern games I have such as Mortal Kombat 9 and GTA4. So funny watching them both play MK9 and they get all excited when they find a new move. :D
 
That's awesome you are training them on Mega Man. If I could find an adult version of math blaster or mario types I would still play them. By adult I mean harder not rated.

All kidding aside, I do enjoy giving my brain a break when I get home in the evenings after especially taxing days. I don't play much, but occasionally I throw in a good FPS and "decompress".

I can't imagine how much elevation I could get with an extra turret. Or is one for coarse adjustment and the other is fine? I kind of liked the first Ghost Sniper.
