GAP-10 surefire mb 762-211c install questions

Do I need to use the supplied shims if it almost aligns perfectly screwing1 it on hand tight ? I posted this in the gunsmithing but got no responces .

You should torque it down to 20-30ft lbs. so you probably will have to use shims.
