Can some one tell me the chamber specs for a GAP 260? I do not know much about them but was helping a buddy tonight try and reload JLK 130s and remmy brass and with a neck size od .292-.293 the brass will not chamber...its not an overall length issue because we are at 2.802.

and it chambers other factory ammpo fine but the necks are around .288-.290

just can't believe we have to turn remmy brass necks...is this typical?

Re: GAP 260

My GAP Valkyrie .260 was made in 2010 and was chambered to min SAMMI spec's .293" neck. This was before Lapua came out with their 260 brass. You can use Nosler Custom .260 brass and not have to do a thing it will be .289" loaded. Otherwise YES you will have to turn the necks on any other brass. I use the Nosler in mine it's great stuff but it is very soft. The best is to neck up .243 Lapua and turn. If you don't want to anything use the Nosler. Remmy brass is not good brass anyway.

Note: You can always rechamber if you want to so any brass will work.

Re: GAP 260

Thanks...yeah he called GAP today and they said he is at .294 so he is where you are at maybe slightly better. Options basically are he can send it in to have it reamed up to .297, or get to neck turning...or spend alot more on brass. I personally think he should just send it back and have them take it .297 but that's his call.

Re: GAP 260

Well I guess for me it would be down to round count down the tube. Mine shoots so well I don't want anyone to touch it until I shoot this barrel out. I'm at 670 down the tube so it will be a while and I have lot's of brass and turning tools I already had.
