Gunsmithing Gap between stock and action?

So I just got my action back and started installing the stock to the action to check how much I'd need to modify the CDI action screws and while doing this I noticed that there's a sizeable gap in the bolt handle channel between the stock and the action. I'm not sure if this was there before the stock was inletted, it doesnt look like any material was taken off around that area but I never noticed this previously. Does this seem normal or would it be an issue? Thanks guy.

UPDATE: After speaking to Jeff from CDI Precision and sending him some pictures he said that the gap is normal and was probably there before, I just didn't notice it till I started tinkering.

Is the bolt closing all the way?
Is the action installed properly (seated all the way)?

If not then I'd fix those problems.
If yes then I'd pull the action screws and see if things change with the action loosely in the stock.

I've seen both very close gaps and very large gaps,,,neither caused any performance/function issues with the weapon.

Bolt closes all the way and functions perfectly, action is seated as it should be and removing action screws don't change how it's seated.

That sure doesn't look right. Can you post more pictures? What does the action channel look like? How does the rear tang look/fit? Did the inletting include pillars or anything?

I'll post more pictures tomorrow morning when I get home from work. I got everything assembled this morning and I torqued everything down to spec (65in-lbs for action screw per CDI) and all the lines look perfect lined up like they should be. As you can see in the first picture I posted up there the line of the safety match up with the stock perfectly. It doesn't seem like they machined any material out from the inside of that part of the stock so I don't know if this gap was there before and I just didn't notice it or if it's new? Here's a picture of the rifle completely assembled and nothing looks out of place.

Good luck with that if you torqued the screws down and it pulled the action that far down.

What you are seeing here is fairly typical of "out of the box" drop in rifle stocks. If I were to guess, you prolly have a B/C or H/S yes? It's more than required and its a bit off the chart from traditional gunmaking viewpoints, but it'll work fine.

As noted, if your low crawling in the quest of fighting the insurgency, you'll likely need to step up your preventative maintenance program.
