I have a GAP Crusader with the Bartelien barrel 22". I am wondering if anyone can give me a rough Idea how many rounds the bartelien barrels last before you see your groups open up? I don't shoot hot loads, usually max 2600 FPS on the 168's and 2550 FPS for the 175's. I have only about 300 rds through it, but am looking forward to rebarreling it in a longer tube and changing the bottom metal. I bought it to be a shooter and my primary bolt gun, and it has lived up to all I expected, but would like a longer tube and the ability to use AI mags. Thanks for any and all reply's gentlemen. Tex

Re: GAP Rifle barrel life????

Many things will factor into the barrel life. If you start with quality and take care of it you will be waiting a while before you see a real need to rebarrel.

Need vs want you can always rebarrel and sell off the current one but if you are waiting to wear it out you will be waiting for a good long while I suspect.

Great thanks gentlemen I will heed the advice of cleaning, I couldn't ask for a better rifle, and it shoots to beat the band may have to send it in for the bottom metal ahead of the barrel by the sounds of it. Thanks again for the responses Tex

Clean it when accuracy drops off, if and when it gets wet, or when you're going to store it for a long period between shooting sessions. That's what I do anyway.
