GAP Squire Discussion

I ordered one of George a couple years ago. I run mine suppressed. Loves the Prime Ammo. I did get the bolt bushed as it was piercing a lot of mfgs primers, post bushing havent had 1 since. Replaced the trigger with a Timney 2 stage trigger. . Put a NXS 3.5-15 F1 mildot on it. Had to send the Manners folding stock back to Manners as soon as i got the gun as it had serious wobble, not a fan of their folding stock as even after Manners looked at it there are far more solid folding stocks (i.e. AI, Q, Sig, MPA, KRG) - all are far more rigid. Nice little gun, shoots the 77gr into a single hole at 100 yards.

Thanks for the response. I plan on mounting up the same NF.

Wish prime wasn’t out of stock. Glad to here it liked the 77 grainers. May try to find something comarible (Hornady/Blackhills).

So did manners fix the wobble? I’ve had a Manners folder before, and noticed it as well. But it wasn’t too bad.

If anyone has an issue with the hinge on the folder let me know and we will do everything we can to make it ROCK SOLID. I bought 3 before working here and 2 were rock solid and 1 had a bit of slop in the hinge, they worked on it free and it is very strong and has been since they did the work.
@craigos & @smacha538 if you need anything with that please let me know.

On the original question, I got one and it has been great. GA has done a great job on all my rifles. I have tried the Hornady, Prime, Fed, and the MK 262. The mil ammo is speedy and gets the gun up closer to the 6/6.5 levels.

I have gone to hand loading it to get the most out of it.

A nice tidbit is I swapped to XBR8208 due to the metering consistency so I get the best out of everything!

Thanks Robert8, sent it back to Manners within 2 weeks of getting it from GAP. Sent it directly to Tom (spoke to him here on SH) , the manner guys had it for like 2 months, had to called 2-3 times to get it back (seemed to have been shipped and forgotten about based on my conversations as 6 weeks into it being delivered the person on the phone said it was still sitting in receiving in its box) - when i got it back it went from lots of wobble (quite bad) to very slight wobble, but was never completely removed. I was grateful for the service but on these precision rifles any discernable wobble, irrespective of how much, is quite bothersome. As i said have other fg folders and they have absolutely 0 discernible wobble from the get go. If i open and close it , now and again i get it to where there is hardly any perceptible movement and when i do i leave it .. but it takes a few tries.

I completely understand and expect the same for mine. mine have ZERO wobble and if you're still not happy I'd be happy to do anything I can to make sure we make that right. Customer satisfaction is very important to me and I want to make sure we take care of you. We appreciate you choosing us and that doesn't go away once you get the product. Please let me know if I can help in anyway. Present or future.

That’s much appreciated Robert. Should be picking the rifle up on Wednesday. I’ll update then.

In regards to speed...I obviously would like use ammo pushing the 75/77 grain on the faster side. But prime is actually only the slower end (2600 ish) compared to the Hornady Superformance variety (2900 ish). Just curious is this specific rifle like the slower stuff? Will I be sacrificing some accuracy for the hotter ammo?

Mine shoots the Prime very well but the others shoot very well also. The MK262 was very accurate and the handloads are as well. ( work up as this is hot in some rifles) 23.6 XBR8208 with a 75 grn Hornady ELD-M (can buy bulk package of like 3K) with some Hornady brass as been very easy to load and very accurate. Does well on pigs and yotes also.

This thread is worthless without pictures...... only because I'm jealous and want one too.
