Garmin 701 Tempe

Page over to the settings screen, scroll to down to "connect", and then scroll down to "Tempe". Connect is under Setup which cannot be viewed initially.
I've done exactly what you described, still won't pair up . I had the Tempe sitting about a foot away from the 701 , I'm going to move it closer as was suggested by the vendor I purchased it from .
Mine worked after doing what Doc said.
Can you double check the battery is making contact with the leads? There may be a plastic insert blocking contact.

Ditto here. It connected without any problems for me. Are you sure you have the battery in the Tempe installed correctly?
To be clear, you have the smooth side of the battery facing down, away from the front of the sensor? You should see the smaller circle (negative side) facing you as you look down on the battery, sitting in the battery door.

IIRC, I had to select down to find the tempe sensor (it wasn't visible from the first page of options).
Correct on the battery oriented, I've found the spot in the menu to connect to the Tempe, once I select it , it just says searching and never connects .
Contact Garmin. They should replace it (it sounds like it is faulty, after all this). Smh. Sounds like you may have just gotten one made on Friday at 1630.
