I’m wanting to shoot my ARs more now that I have suppressors for them but when I’m shooting im getting a decent bit of gas back in my face. Is the “Gas Buster” the only option? Anything better?

Pardon the ignorance of this question, but is the charging handle the same between the AR10 and AR15?

I put one on my spr style build with 18 inch WOA SPR barrel, JP SCS w/ tungsten weights and a SD tactical adjustable gas block and I run my 9 inch form 1 can that's same size as a Tbac 30-P1. I haven't had it out yet but I'm taking it out this week. I'll report back.

I searched around and didn't find any other options when I bought mine. There are some DIY options where people dremel out their factory charging handles and also add some permatex in the gap between the charging handle when its locked forward to seal the gap between it and the upper to prevent gas from coming out there.

A lot of people say they dont notice a difference in with or without a gas buster when gas is adjusted properly. Others say the gas buster is awesome. I'm gonna play with it all.

The gas buster was listed as separate part numbers between ar15 and ar10 when I ordered.

Keep in mind it ejects gas to right side so it's not friendly to left handed shooters. Hope this helps

DIY your own with some plastic wrap on and in the crease in the upper ( to prevent sealant sticking to the upper) and some type of silicone or caulking/sealant on a clean/ degreased charging handle. Also remember that the sealant will shrink a bit as it cures, so go a bit thicker with it than you think that you need.

if you want to get creative ? .. only other option is you can go with another upper without the rear charging handle .. ( for example )

If you don't care about appearances, adding RTV to a factory CH works just about as well as anything.

Some of the other aftermarket handles like Geissele and BCM have a higher "flange" and tighter fit that give them some gas deflecting properties.

The best thing is to keep all of the excess gas from making it to that point. The following three items are what I’ve found to basically eliminate gas in the face when suppressed.

    1. Proper length gas system with superlative gas block as well and tuned/optimized carrier and buffer weight. This is huge, only as much gas as needed and a lightweight matched operating system.

    2. LMT enhanced carrier. It works. It has additional ports and channels more gas out of he port vs backwards. It also changes dwell time which makes a difference.

    3. Geissele SCH. I mind it to mitigate gas better than the PRI.

I shot the DPMS in 243 yesterday, hadn’t shot it in a while before that. Didn’t get too much gas in the face. None that I noticed really. I think I might hold off for now and maybe try some RTV later.

On a side note, after shooting my AI a ton I now really notice how bad the stock trigger is in that thing. Ugh. I need a new trigger.
