Typical factory rifle from DPMS...over-gassed from the get-go!
DPMS, at least at one time, listed the factory LR-308, 20", rifle-length gas system gas port diameter as 0.0935". You probably ought to get a measurement on yours to make sure what size it ACTUALLY is and then you can make a judgment call as to where you want to start with the gas port size on your new barrel.
Personally, I'd start around 0.080" and increase the port diameter in slight increments from there until you have achieved the results you want with the ammo you'll be using the majority of the time.
