I have a buddy with a Armalite AR10. One day I observed that his spent casing was ejecting like a 90 years old man peeing. So, I asked him to take out the BCG to see if his gas ring gave out. Well, it did. When I pulled the bolt and set it on the table with the bold face down, it went into the bolt carrier effortlessly.
So, my buddy order couple of gas rings from the Armalite which took 2 months to arrive, and replaced it. Shockingly, even with the new gas ring, the bolt is sliding into the carrier when set if down with the bolt face down. Anyhow, we decide to shoot it to see if it works. Well, the spent casing was ejecting far enough to 2 to 4 o'clock.
But, here's the thing. It's shooting all over the place. The rifle used to print sub-minute, but now the group is about 4 inches at 100 yards. What could this mean? I feel like the gas is still leaking causing inconsistent pressure ending up with no accuracy at all.
Any thought?
