I am contemplating the purchase of a Gemtech G5. I did some Sniper's Hide searches and really didn't find all that much on it. It seems that AAC is the most prevalent discussed suppressor on this Site. Anyways, I already have a Gemtech HVT and am happy with its performance so I am thinking of another Gemtech but have not made up my mind. I have dealt with their customer service before and they seem to be a great company. I also have the Bi-Lock on an AR that I have used for the HVT so I am ASSUMING that it would work with the G5.

Does anyone have real experience with the G5? Had any issues? Point of Impact changes? Is it repeatable? Sound reductions? Recoil reduction (I know it is a 223), muzzle blast reduction. Any other things that I have not thought of?

I have all Gemtech cans, but not the one in question.

Did you try silencertalk ? Very anti-Gemtech but some Gemtech owners will respond.

    Re: Gemtech G5 223 Suppressor?

I have 4 Gemtech suppressors. An older TPRS, HALO, MK9K and Raptor. Not a complaint with any of them. CS has been excellent. Doc Dater is a great guy.

I also have and like my Shark and 5.56 YHM Phantom.

If you do go with a Gemtech , I would stay away from the center fire Bilock like the G5 for a precision rifle. I initially had a bilock on my TPRS and couldn'd get repeatable POI and accuracy performance. The suppressor just kind of flops around with a little spring pressure with the bilocks. Sent it back and had it turned into a thread on and love it now.

    Hope this helps.

i had the gem-tech G5 QD bi-lock, no you can not use your G5 QD with you HVT bi-lock, if that was one of your questions... I loved it, it worked great, super sound suppression, small and compact, don't really need to worry about the recoil reduction on your 5.55 but it did help. In the process of getting another one.

    Re: Gemtech G5 223 Suppressor?

the G5 was going to go on a M4 and also a DPMS Mini-SASS. I have the BI-Lock for a HVT can and have a very repeatable POI shift of one inch up and a 1/2 left. So I was hoping that I would have the same amount of POI shift with a G5. I guess you can never tell until you buy it.

ya you wont be able to tell until you buy it, but i have the same set up dpms mini sass, with the G5 QD (until I sold it), nice little rig, shooting 69 grain match kings @ 2750fps @ .3 MOA. i think the POI shift for mine was 1.5 inches high w/ the can, but i'm sure yours will be different.

I have the HVT-QD on my 308 with very little POI shift, and I have the G5 mount on my Colt 6520 AR. I use the HVT on my AR as it interchanges between both the barrel tensioned bi lock and the G5 flash hider. Love it,

    Re: Gemtech G5 223 Suppressor?

I ended up going with an AAC M4 1000. I couldn't find anyone that had a G5 in stock. I found the AAC in stock so I will start down the waiting road.
