Is there a downside in running a 308 break on a 260 or you have to go with the 6.5 version.
On Europtic site I read “Up to” 308 or “Up to”6.5.

If there is no downside, might as well get the “up to” 308 for more versatility.

There must be en efficiency difference, whether or not you can feel it though is anybodies guess. Call APA, im sure they have an opinion on it. I would imagine if they thought it made no difference, they'd forego making a 6.5 version.

You can put a smaller peg into a larger hole. You can shoot a 6.5 in a 30. You obviously cant use a 30 in a 6.5 brake. There will be a loss in efficiency but its small. Something like 3% in recoil running a 6mm through a 30 brake according to the tests done by the precision rifle blog muzzle brake test. Right after posting this thread, I got a call from Mile High regarding a barrel. I was planning to add a break to my order so I asked the question and he didn't think of any downside. The precision blog article confirms it. I went with the 308 break for the 260 barrel.
