Not my picture.

Haven't used my trimmer in some time after having done a large batch of .223 Remington brass ages ago.

I really don't like the idea of these really sharp cookie - cutter edges taking a bite out of my fingertips when seating a bullet.

Was the Giraud Trimmer meant to do this, or did I set my blades wrong?

Move the blade some and it won’t be that sharp.

Moving the blade away from the case lips would result in inconsistent case lengths, large enough differences at that...

With consistent shoulder bumps, the only way to get equally consistent cartridge overall lengths (or neck lengths) would be to get everything sharp.

Is this a "not longer than" instead of "all measuring at" scenario we're aiming for?

You seat bullets with your fingers?

Inside chamfer looks a bit much but I’m not seeing a terrible sharp edge in the pic (may be the pic or my old eyes). But, there is def have an inside chamfer in that pic so bullet should slide in there nicely.

As stated in original post - picture of case lips isn't mine.

Why inconsistent? I don’t see what you are getting at. No matter where the blade is set….thats where it’s set and trimming should be repeatable and consistent, no?

I think that moving the blade out a bit would just result in less chamfer, right?

Then you know the answer to your question so why did you ask? I have been using the Giraud for over a decade and never cut myself on a case mouth in tens of thousands of cases so if moving in some messes with your OCD then wear some gloves so you don’t cut yourself.

Perhaps there was some other way I wasn't aware of?

Maybe a blade with a different profile?

Is there something shitty or snarky in the way I'm posing my question?

No but if you don’t want a sharp edge then move the blade over a little. That easy. It may take you a little playing but you can find it. And the shoulder itself will give you more length variance than moving the blade slightly.

Here’s a pic of mine I just went and took and it looks sharp but it’s not. Just ran my finger all over it and no cuts.

Thanks for the picture.

Just for clarification - are those cases "pet brass" that have been well taken - care of?

The .223 Remington cases I mentioned in the initial post were range pickups.

I'll just try playing around with the blade some, see what we'll get.

Not pet brass. Once fired brass that was shot in a match in that pic but my older stuff looks like that too. Shouldn’t matter if it’s range pick ups if you clean them and size them correctly.
