Well I talked her into finally trying to go hunting.

Gave her a .22 the day before to plink around with, and she did a really good job shooting that. Mind you this is the first gun she ever shot as well.

Get to the stand and got to watch a ton of playing around, a 4 pointer, 6 pointer in which she almost killed, but he was running the whole time and she couldnt get him in the scope when I stopped him.

We must have seen 8-10 does by the time this guy came through the woods infront of us, I knew he was a shooter when I seen him, but I didnt realize the pure size of him. He started rubbing on some trees and did a few paws at the ground giving her another good show for her first hunt. Deer was probably around 230-240lbs, very large and definately in rut from his huge neck.

He walked along a tree line in front of us that we couldnt see or shoot through. He finally appeared about 100 yards away, standing broadside it was a very nice first shot. She blew off the top of his heart with a spot on kill shot, deer ran 30 yards and crashed.

Weapon was a Ruger m77 .243 with hornady 100gr HPBT factory loads.

The other deer is my friends wife's deer, 10pt very nice deer. Also a .243 rifle used and that shot was 200+ yards.

Nope not a clean exit, I believe these bullets are too small to clean exit. I pulled the bullet out of the other side stuck in the hide though. I have yet to have a full pass through on any of my .243 shootings. I used to use a .270 and it would exit.

It was a great experience for me to be able to have her in the tree stand next to me. Its on my own 220 acre farm, so its just a walk out the back door away. She thanks all of you for your comments. This is the buck I killed just a day later same stand, about the same time of day when this guy walked by.
