Hi,
I just picked up a new Glock 29 which is the 10mm subcompact model. I would like to sell the factory barrel and buy an aftermarket one so I can reload/shoot lead cast bullets but wanted to get some feedback first.
Do you think it would be a bad idea or are there any concerns with selling the factory barrel which has my guns serial number on it?

Re: Glock Barrel

I'd buy plated bullets. $140 for a barrel, Rainier bullets $110 a thousand, lead $99 a thousand. That's 12,727 bullets to break even on the barrel to shoot lead.

Re: Glock Barrel

Keep the barrel and shoot moly coated lead, check out Black Bullets International, I for one prefer Precision Delta, cost is a tad more but no worries on leading, I do not like the Lone Wolf logo at all, but for the cost there barrels shoot pretty good, I have a 40-9 KKM barrel for my G35, I like it, fit n finish is better than LW, but it doesn't shoot 55 dollars better, plated pills are a total rip off.

Awesome choice.

How much will you shoot this pistol, and what do you plan to do with it? If you bought it for backpacking/animal defense, just run HARD cast lead bullets in it. They don't lead up much, and for the few shots you'll take, won't cause a problem. Soft lead however, leads up in a hurry, especially at 10mm velocites.

If you intend to do a lot of shooting and want to run any old lead through, the LW (or similar) aftermarket barrel is a sound choice.

No concern with the serial number. The barrel is not "the gun", so the fact it is serialized is a moot point.
