Dear GLOCK Armorer:
On September 6, 2011, GLOCK Inc. will begin voluntarily exchanging the recoil spring assembly (RSA) on its new Gen4 pistols shipped since 2009 GLOCK’s product development team has modified various elements of the RSA to ensure each pistol’s performance meets the company’s demanding standards. With several variations of the RSA in the market today, GLOCK’s goal with this voluntary exchange is to standardize the RSA to gain the best possible performance in each pistol.
Armorers should note that Gen4 G26 and G27 models will not require a modified recoil spring.
The new RSA’s all have unique markings on the base of the part. The enclosed chart is designed to help you readily identify the correct RSA for your pistol.
Unless a directive is mandated by your agency or your store, the replacement of the Gen4 pistol’s RSA can be performed as part of the regular field-strip process. Agencies or Consumer’s wishing to participate in the exchange program at no charge are urged to call 1-877-745-8523 to order their new RSA.
For more information on the details of the exchange program, visit www.TEAMGLOCK.com.

Glock has posted an identification chart on thier site.

Re: Glock Gen 4 Reciol Spring Assembly Recall

Got the notice today also. Will need to get some for my Glock guys at work. They make fun of me cause 2 months after going to Glock armourers school I switched to the M&P and have never looked back. Glock is still a good gun but I just felt they kind of fell behind the curve.

Re: Glock Gen 4 Reciol Spring Assembly Recall

Yep, it used to be an easy choice - Glocks were pretty safe bet. Today, I'm not as sure anymore. HK seems to be the only safe bet right now.

I doubt we've seen the end of the problems with them, though, through this "upgrade".

Issues have been showing up in Gen 3 guns, too.

Re: Glock Gen 4 Reciol Spring Assembly Recall

Called glock. They said it was recalled in early May and they would ship it to me. Its been 3 months, and I still haven't received it.

Re: Glock Gen 4 Reciol Spring Assembly Recall

Generally speaking, every gun will break.

Guns are machines, machines will break. No machine is immune to that. It doesn't matter what it is. Plane, Train, or Automobile.

Now with the Glocks being redesigned there will be some issues at first. Same thing happens when a new truck, or car is redesigned.

Re: Glock Gen 4 Reciol Spring Assembly Recall

why the notice now? And why an exchange?? if you call theyll send ya a new updated RSA free of charge and have been doing so for quite some time now atleast since 2010 as far as I know.

I spoke with glock a week ago and they are sending me a new for my g17 I purchased in december of last year as it was the original version with no markings on the bottom of the RSA. My gun has performed fine but I can see where the issue would be so id rather have the new one for peace of mind.

Jim,

I had the samething happen when I called about getting a new RSA, i checked back 10 days later after they said I should of had it and they had no record of the warranty order being placed or shipped out so it never got into the system. Before I hung up I made sure I got the reps extension and confirmation order for warranty claim. He said check back in 10 days to confirm its been 7.

I was alil pissed after the initial mishap but ok their busy. if it happens again tho its a serious customer service problem

Re: Glock Gen 4 Reciol Spring Assembly Recall

My replacement came yesterday. Finally. After a month or so. She's marked 0-4-2. Glock must be throwing a ton of money at this since they shipped mine overnight air.

Re: Glock Gen 4 Reciol Spring Assembly Recall

I want to know how they didn't catch the issue during design. Its rather obvious when you look at the original design why their could be a problem. There is hardly any surface engagement between the rsa and slide.

The replacement rsa with the steel collar is what it should have been to begin with.

Does anybody know if the subcompact models have the steel collars integrated into the rsa? I don't have one to look at.

Re: Glock Gen 4 Reciol Spring Assembly Recall

The effected RSA'a are:

G-22,G-31,G35,G37 Rear of assembly marked 0-1-4 SPO#7577

G-17,34 Rear of assembly marked 0-2-4 SPO#8284

G-23,32 Rear of assembly marked 0-3-3 SPO#7815

G-19 Rear of assembly marked 0-4-3 PART#8703

G-17T Rear of assembly marked 0-5-2 PART#30000

G-21 Rea of assembly marked 0-7-2 PART#30077

Gen4 G26 and G27 models will not require a modified recoil spring.

Re: Glock Gen 4 Reciol Spring Assembly Recall

That didn't answer my question if that was your intention.

Does the gen 4 g26 and g27 models utilize the rsa with the integrated steel collar like the new updated replacement RSAs? If they do that's what Glock should have from the get go across the board Imo.

Re: Glock Gen 4 Reciol Spring Assembly Recall
