Sidearms & Scatterguns Glock

I’ve shot more Glocks than a lot of people who actually like Glocks.

Somehow, I learned early on how to “pull through the suck” and actually shoot them quite well.

I gotta say, I shot a Gen 5 20 with a Holosun on top and put 3 rounds through it offhand at around 20 yards. The group made me REALLY want a Glock for the first time (though I’d likely 21 with a Kart barrel, as I’m a cast guy). It was smoother, softer shooting, better feeling grip, AND better (relatively) trigger than I’d ever felt on a Glock.

Just my .02….

I guess the uninitiated decided to reply. I thought the design change to the Gen 5 and shit creep trigger was a well known issue. Change in the frame and transfer bar or some shit.

I've loved the G43 trigger in all gens from inception. Same as the triggers in Gen 3&4. Gen 5 I couldn't for the life of me find an aftermarket kit to do much better. LGS takes in all models except Gen 5. Then they keep them for their own collection due to trigger mush.

I don't think anybody is arguing with you proposing your question/gripe in the OP.

I just think they don't see an issue or they don't care. . . .

Is it a shitty trigger?
Compared to a lot of others out there,. . . Yes.

Does Glock care if it is not easily modified with aftermarket parts to be comp grade?
No!
No, they give zero fucks.

Alas, all is not lost for you and others disgusted with Gen 5s.
There are companies and shooters in the gun community that are wicked smart and aren't afraid to fuck with stuff until they find a work-around. Give it time and I'm sure there will be a metric shit ton of Gen 5 parts available to turn it into whatever iteration of Cinderella that you desire.

However, the stock Gen 5 triggers are just fine for their main target audience.
It's a duty grade trigger that will function when neglected and caked with shit plus it is totally shootable at a very high level if the user commits to training with it.

AND it doesn't seem to discharge at random while in the holster! Definitely a PLUS there!

Considering what it is meant to do, I will take that as a W.

That's an eloquent way of calling me a whiny bitch. You must be a Southern gentlemen?
Anyway, the Gen 5 trigger don't work for me. I like them all to have the same break & feel, even if that is just a crisp staple gun trigger. Like I have in my 43 and many previous Gen Glocks I've used in the past. Moreso, the strong reset I liked for hammer strings. Firing so fast people think it's full auto. It's happened. I swear.

So I digress to my original question, removing my whiny bitch wants, anybody know if Glock intends to redesign the frame/trigger for the Gen 6? I for a fact know I'm not the only crying kitten in the box.

LOL. Well played.
No sir. We all have to vent sometimes. Sometimes it is on huge internet forums. I get ya.

I'm from the South but usually not classed as a gentleman.

I love my 43. I usually shoot better quals with it than my 17 or 34. Maybe cause I'm paying more attention to that little turd.

I wouldn't hold my breath. Glock is too busy taking this frame from one model and sticking the slide from another model on it, calling it a "new model" and then acting like they stuck a big hog in the ass at the next SHOT show.

There are a few of us out here that think Glock is missing a hell of an opportunity in the market by not opening a "custom shop" or "performance center" type division. I think there is a $billion they are leaving on the table that 500 other smaller companies and shops are happy to slurp up.

@Terry Cross in re to the Sig P320...

It doesn't matter at this point if Sig does fix the appendix carried twig & berries destroyer, they are so fucked with the recent discoveries of the P320 design failure they might as well go out of business and come back calling themselves, GIS. lol.

Like I said, if the stock does not work for you, Try the new Trigger Tech ACE trigger. It is a fundamental change to Glock triggers. To me it is a 2 stage trigger. Longish real lite first and a fairly typical TT crispish second.

Fucken TITS, Bro! I love TT! Though I think I will still find Gen 3 new old stockers. I didn't mind the finger grooves. I want a G20 10mm for bear, and a G17 for naggers.

I take you for one...who knows...about the "Shield Arms" 15rnd mags? I'm probably insulting you by asking. Fuck me.
No sir. I am clueless about them.

And No, you aren't insulting me by asking anything, ever. We don't know each other and for sure nobody can read through a forum screen name.
Lot's a toys out there that I am ignorant of. Hell, I'm still finding out about shit that went down in the 80's.

:LOL::LOL::LOL:

Joking, I think it's a matter of what you want out of the gun and what you are willing to put into it to get there. I like my Glocks and have learned to live with the OEM set up. Not saying it's the best but for it's intended use, it works for me. I think other than the GPT, you won't see anything else from Glock, other than a potential redesign to suit the "Gen 6" system?

Shield Arms mags are all metal mags that out of the package fo not work at all. You can mod the and they work ok. Secret is to put some metal epoxy near the bottom on the spine. It keeps the mag in position. Pain in the rear!

Lawrt! Ok, check out the 15rnd Shield Arms mags for the G43, G43X. I think maybe only for G43X because of longer grip, and it's a force multiplier.

WUT? Mine have been absolute bangers out the box! I know you are supposed to get a metal mag release button because they say the plastic one will erode by the metal SA mag, but I'm not using my G43 as a bullet hose, so far they working perfect.

out of the package they may work hit or miss but the feed incorrectly ( catch on front lip) it is a fairly wide spread issue. The epoxy plus a bit of filing on the mag lips takes care the issue normally. I have a couple that I have never gotten to run. Out of like 15 of them I only full trust 5 the rest are range mags.

My oldest daughter uses them in her 43xMOS and she hasn’t said anything to me about any issues

That is ridiculous! So, I bought two back during some gun industry scare year and I had to pay stupid for the two I got. I want to say, 6yrs ago. They are flawless. When did you buy yours?

WOW, super glad some get them and they work. I guess it just my normal (Seems to be a family trait) ability to get great products to fail. I was going to use the 43x as my bedroom gun but have move on the the 19 gen 5. My carry guns are all 1911.

Mine all wear TT Ace triggers and are acceptable ( not perfect best Glock trigger I have felt, which is a rather low bar)
Just polished my stuff real good, it works for me as a tool to blast steel or sit by the bed.

I’ve contemplated changing triggers but way back when I shot quite a bit of GSSF and wanted to leave it stock. Never got around to messing with any of them since then

Unfortunately I am genetically incapable of leave perfectly good items alone😁

@oldrifleman So you got 5 that are trusted. That's 5, 15rnd mags. CCW gun like a 43X with two mags gives 31rnds on scene. One mag in gun, one maybe on belt. Even 16rnds in gun is better bet than 8-9rnds on 1911. You carry a CCW out of the house where I would think you would need more rounds in an encounter. Simply put, why not CCW the gun with more capacity, then keep the lower capacity on the bed stand where if you do need to reload you can grab a mag from the drawer? LOL

I hate carrying the Glock, in face I won’t. Daily carry is the 1911, occasionally I carry a Wilson X9 great trigger and 15-18 round capacity ( if you happened to have the mags prior to the state capacity ban 🤔).
Reality is that if I need more than 25 rounds ( 1 in chamber and 3x8rounds) , I am in the wrong place.

I have a glock 43x and I have 3 shield s15 gen 3 mags that I have been testing out. So far I have had no issues while using fmj, but when I use hollow points I have one mag that jams consistently and the other two occasionally . So far I do not feel confident carrying the 43x with the shield s15 mags. I am going to reach out to shield and see what they can do.

My 43Xs all wear tactical Pontoon triggers. Yep FMJs will be better and round nose best as the Shields ( at least problem ones) tend to tilt the bullet down and the nose catches the feed lips. The fix I have used adds about a 1/16” pad of epoxy to the bottom rear (on top if the bottom set of bumps (trim until they just drop free). Then polish the feed lips a bit.

There's plenty of aftermarket support for improved Glock triggers.

The stock trigger setup is just the cheapest thing they can sell a reliable gun with. Just like a Remington 700 rifle. Damn near everyone serious about shooting replaces the stock trigger.

Not a long time Glock shooter but I have a G47 that I have several thousand rounds through.

I have shot Gen4 and Gen5 triggers and thought Gen5 was slightly better, slightly less hitchy or stage-y.

My usual is CZ P10 and even though I like Gen5 Glock trigger okay I wanted it closer to P10 trigger. I put a Glock Performance Trigger in it -- better. I added Jonny Glock's Vex shoe and now it is great.

Most of the irregularities of Gen5 triggers seem to be spots where transfer bar rubs on frame, or other metal/metal articulating spots are rougher than they could be.

That's all I know.
