I am going to be shooting 600 yards F class in a couple months here. What set of optics should I get of the two choices. They are nearly the same price, have great warranties, and good words about them. SIII=available, PST=probably a long wait in line. If it were up to you guys, what would you choose. Oh yea, my budget is 850 dollars.

Re: Go for Sightron SIII or Vortex PST.

I love it! although it's my first scope, and it's on my first rifle i bought a month ago. I've looked through Nikon Monarchs and Zeiss Conquests before I made my decision. Sightron's glass is better than the Monarch and the Conquest IMHO. With both Nikon and and Zeiss Conquest, image starts to blur up when you get to max magnification, at least the ones I saw at Cabela's. With the Sightron, image was just as clear on 24x compared to 6x. Sure it doesn't have an illuminated reticle, FFP or mil/mil (moa/moa) but for my needs, I didn't think I'd need it. It would be nice but my budget just won't allow it and I couldn't wait for the Vortex PST's to come out. I do however like the turrets of the Zeiss Conquest, firmer knobs/clicks than Sightron but I'm happy with Sightron's turrets.

I'm mainly shooting paper and doing some hunting. I'm not LEO or military, just picking up a new hobby. I was more concerned about high quality glass which Sightron so far has exceeded my expectations. I'm still learning and reading tons of great info on the FAQs here. Good luck!

All depends on your needs I guess. Do you need more field of view? Is it mainly a bench gun? If field of view is not an issue for you, go for the 8-32. Although 6-24 is plenty for 600. 8-32 will just give you a little extra IMHO.

Good call dlxcupid. This will be pretty much for all prone paper punching. I would save nearly a hundred bucks on the 6-24 model. I think that I am going to settle on that model. Theres Nowhere to shoot anywhere remotely near 1000 yards and beyond where I live anyway.

Re: Go for Sightron SIII or Vortex PST.

I would go with the SIII 6-24x over the 8-32. I have three of the Sightron SIII's, and they are great scopes. I have two 3.5-10s and one in 6-24x, and they have some of the best glass of any scope I've seen in the $1k range. They offer plenty of adjustment, and have as good a customer service as you will find in the industry.

Re: Go for Sightron SIII or Vortex PST.

Vortex's customer service blows others out of the water from what i have seen on here. The PST isnt out yet, but if it performs as it should, then it will have a complete hold on the under 1K FFP tactical scope market. No one will touch it if it holds up like it should

Re: Go for Sightron SIII or Vortex PST.

Hey Guys,

I'm shooting F class too has anyone looked at the Vortex 8-32x 50mm 1/8 MOA TD or the Sightron 10-50x 60mm 1/8 MOA any thoughts about these 2 scopes for F class

Re: Go for Sightron SIII or Vortex PST.

I've got one of the Sightron S-III's on my .223 right now and it's a great scope. I will likely pick up one of the Viper PST's just because of FFP and matching reticle and adjustments. If Sightron offered a S-III in FFP and Mil/Mil it'd be in my hands.
