I have a few Colt barrels that I plan to mount on some non Colt flat top receivers. I will be keeping the BCG with the barrels. Do I need to check the headspace.

I myself preferred not to have to spend about $60 to purchase the gages. I did and it took me a whole few minutes to check and verify that the headspace was proper. I may never use those gages again.... but..... the thought of a bolt blowing back into my eyeball socket won me over into spending the $60.
I figure I can always dump those gages later and get 1/2 my money back anyway.
