Disappointing.

The Graphics, the usually great critters. Way too much dark, dingy murk.

The story? A Charlie Foxtrot.

Gotta coexist with the monsters, they are ordained to be the planet's guardians. Humans bad, must stop destroying the planet or the monsters will obliterate humanity; and so they should, bad humanity!

SJW much?

Great characters from the first one utterly twisted and repurposed as stupid, impulsive, ego driven jerks. Charles Dance as an Ex Brit Special Force Eco Terrorist who kills a few folks, then does not much else.

Absolute eco-freaky pap. Ken Watanabe mouthing enigmatic sound bites. Let them fight stuff. The whole thing looks like a hodgepodge of emphatic and snarky sound clips tossed into a hat, then spliced together seemingly at random.

My Wife told me on the way home, they mainly went for me; I'm a big Godzilla fan.

That may be changing if the franchise stays the present course. Big waste of a lot of production effort, IMHO; better get back on track soon.

What were you thinking? I took my 10yo yesterday. Walking out the door he turned to me and said, "Wasn't that the best movie ever!". I smiled, and said, "Glad you liked it!" (because I spent $30!). I'm sure to a 10yo it was awesome.

I don't know what you expected going in, but I just assumed it would be terrible. I only agreed because I think Ken Wantanabe is a great actor, and he does a great job with what little there was to work with here. I can at least say it was better than the dude in the rubber suit stepping on model tanks. I can appreciate that campy stuff, but not for a full hour. I could have definitely done without the environmentalist religion shoved into it (at least the bad guys were the eco-fanatics).

Do not go see this movie. Do not rent this movie. Wait till it's free and there is nothing else on.

My wife and I liked it. We went in not knowing much and hadn't seen the first one of this reboot.

The scene were dark and difficult to see at times and for being the main character, Godzilla didn't get much screen time.

I didn't like the enviro wack-job stuff but I thought they did an okay job of making them seem like wack-jobs. And the Mom Wack-job... why did she seem to go from "hot" to "hot-mess" during her manifesto video scene??

What we liked was the human characters and fights. The plot wasnt overly predictable and there were enough twists to keep us interested. All in all, we thought it was much better than many recent movies.
