I'm ignorant to the way this works, but would it make sense to rebarrel my 260 rem in its beefed up Ackley counterpart if I am after better velocity AND long case life?

I recently backed off my pet load of 43.1gr H4350 down to 42.4gr because I could tell that my primers were taking much less resistance to seat when my 3x loaded were compared to brand new brass. My thought was that with the increased case size I could increase velocity relative to my standard 260 load and still be at pressures that would be kind to my brass. I also know that the sharp shoulder reduces brass creep too. Any thoughts?

The only reason to go Ai is to increase case capacity (more powder for more mv) and less trimming.I get about 10 loads out of Lapua brass before the primer pockets go south,, running H4350 at 44grs with the Berger 140Hybrids and 44.3grs with the 142 SMK.This in a match chamber with minimum fl sizing.

Thanks for the response Blue, but that didn't really answer my question.

Specifically, is Ackleyizing a case going to let you increase velocity by adding more powder while not increasing pressure/brass wear (at all or as much) compared to a hot unAckleyized load.

Case in point,
Standard 260 with 43.1gr of H4350
Compared to
Ack 260 with 43.1gr H4350

Will the two loads have similar velocity but lower pressure in the Ackley?

Or maybe a better way to ask,

Standard 260 @ 2850fps
Compared to
Ackley 260 @ 2850fps

Will the Ackley be easier on the brass?

The ackley will give a little more velocity, but not a lot. The main thing it does is keep the brass from flowing forward (less trimming). I've never heard of it preserving primer pockets, but then again there's lots of things I've never heard of.
