I'm planning to rebarrel my IRA-10D in the not too distant future. The factory DPMS barrel I've been using shoots well with my 175gr loads but I'd like to use this as a secondary duty weapon so it needs to digest 168gr GMM and keep them at least sub MOA and this barrel won't.

This rifle will see more recreational 1000yd shooting than "duty" use so while I'd really like to go 18" for portability I don't think that'd be beneficial at a grand.

I'm interested in what other guys have had success with. My preference is to go with a blank from Schneider since I've had such great luck with my bolt gun barrel but I have a Krieger which shoots very well also so I'm not dead set on the barrel manufacturer.

Go 18 and 1:11.25 for sure. Will shoot 168 and 175 very well. I'd do a Rock Creek,Oby,Kriger, or Bartlein. Summin single point cut. Shoud be 3/4 moa or less assuming your a good driver and a good smith does the work.

Yeah you may be right for the 1,000 stuff. If your going to be shooting 1,000 alot then a longer barrel maybe 20-22" with a 1:11.25 twist. If your doing 1,000 alot then I'd shoot 175's. I know alot of people shoot 155 palmas for 1,000 but most set their guns up specifically for that but thats not what you need if it needs to eat 168 grain too because most would probably go with a 1-10 twist. I'm not saying that it wouldn't shoot 168 but probably not as well as you want. If your shooting 1,000 most the time with it then I would probably set it up for that, especially out of a gas gun. The original set up I gave would be a 750 gun easy and would eat 155, 168,175's. Hopefully some more people will give some insight because Im not a smith I just kinda go off what I have learned here and seen in person. I would bet most would say that if you want to shoot 1,000 most of the time with a gas gun then it would probably need to be set up for that. Just my $.02.
