I just wanted everyone to be very aware that the DPS, sheriff, and normal PD are out in full force already! This time of year they come out to get the Spring Breakers headed to the island to party. Just wanted to warn everyone to watch their speed!

Thanks for the heads-up. I'll make sure to leave the motorcycle at home.

It's so hard to speed in what I drive. Nevertheless, I met one very friendly Deputy on a lonely two-lane at about 3am: we chatted for a while; very nice kid. Then, closer to Kingville I met two of the Fish & Game boys: very cordial; very professional.

Of the three officers I met in 1400 miles of travel all were in Texas, and two of them met me at the King Ranch fence.

Highway 77 running from Robstown south to the Rio Grande valley, is a highly-utilized drug corridor, and heavily patroled by officers from federal, state, municipal and county agencies all looking for an excuse to pull you over so they can search your car for drugs or other contraband.

In addition, the police force of Driscoll, a town of about 850 people, just south of Robstown, writes around 35,000 speeding tickets per year. City taxes are...low.

Don't speed around here.

Had my rental broken into down at Bighouse Burgers and was in the process of taking the car back up to Corpus when I had my "opportunity" with the Driscoll's "finest".....

Was in the process of slowing down and they dont give you ANY slack.
