Gold on a AR?

Re: Gold on a AR?

Disgusting.

I highly doubt that's actually a Colt Commemorative, I think the seller is a flat out scam.

Either Colt should be ashamed (1:1000000 odds there), or the seller took a nice AR15 and spray painted it a little in the hopes some moron will pay an extra $2200. (999999:1000000 odds)

If it's a real factory paint job, then where's the:

-Paperwork
-Original box/label
-Special serial number

Re: Gold on a AR?

I work with tons of Vietnam Vets and I have never had one tell me they liked the M16 they where issued. Seemed strange that Colt would even make something like this that would be targeted to Vietnam Generation.

Also if they did make one, I would think that they would use the oldstyle forward assist, the old style windage knob, and the old style handguards. Just my 2 cents..

+1, I remember seeing them for sale in the American Rifleman. Tacky as hell.

Guess I served with a different group of Vietnam Vets, (2/502nd Inf, 101st Abn Div 67-68). I found most liked the M16a1 but that's a different topic.

Seems to me, if one was to make a Vietnam M16 Commemorative it should have been a SP1 platform instead of the HBAR, since we didn't use HBARs. The SP1 would be the closest civilian version of the M16a1.

Assuming they had those parts laying around, which is not necessarily the case. It is way easier to pull rifles out of inventory.
