Does anyone have any experience with good BC hunting bullet in the 150ish class?

This summer I want to work up a load for my dad's light .308 elk gun. He's not getting any younger and the heavier loads give him a rough time. Lighter recoil, flatter shooting should work better.

I just don't want to end up with a bullet that doest perform on game.

Any suggestions from dead critters?

Thanks

Yeah, something like an accubond would be good for bc. I've moved to soft points from them though just based on price and I don't think I'm losing anything with a gameking.

I have had great performance out of all the Barnes TTSX/ LRX bullets. I typically use the 168's for .308 but the 127 in 6.5 perform well. Havent recovered anything but the tip, exit wounds are always substantial and the lungs are always mush.
Barnes makes a .308 150gn and I wouldnt hesitate to use that if I wanted a 150.

"Accubonds over TTSX on game. Especially out where the velocity falls below about 2200 fps."

Why? Not trying to argue just genuinely asking why you made the choice. I have had great luck wth TTSX's on game. With some of the elk taken the velocity was down to the 1800 ish mark.

Their expansion is directly related to velocity. I have put 7 through elk inside 300 yards and they worked great. But the elk I shot in 2014 and 2016 were at 490 and 410 respectively and the bullet was below 1900 in both cases and did not open much if at all. Both punched straight through. The entry and exit hole at 490 were identical. I talked to Barnes and they basically told me the same thing...not for long range unless you are shooting through both front shoulders. Under 2200, they don't open in the chest cavity..
